Summer in Qatar will keep the fun going over Eid and beyond, with plenty of entertainment for the entire family.Â The seasonâ€™s travel, hospitality and retail deals continue until August 16, along with curated offerings in entertainment, culture, and sports.
Mashal Shahbik from QNTC commented: â€œEid forms the cornerstone of the summer season this year and is an important part of our summer program.Â With its focus on family, it dovetails with our focus on urban and family friendly entertainment, with a program of events and activities which appeal to as wide an audience as possible.Â We are thankful to our partners, particularly at Katara, Souq Waqif and Souq AlWakra, who have organised a lively program to ring in Eid.â€
Souq Waqif, Souq alWakrah and Katara Cultural Village will host vibrant Eid festivities, with cultural performances, musical acts and special games for children throughout Eid, from 4-10pm.
Activities for children will be spread out along the Katara beachfront between 5.00pm and 10.00pm. As usual Katara will distribute Eidiya (Eid gift) to children, starting at 9.00pm. visitors will be able to enjoy a parade by the police academyâ€™s marching band starting at 8.00pm.
Meanwhile Kataraâ€™s planetarium will offer enthralling 3D screening of â€œDawn of the Space Ageâ€ on the second day of Eid, â€œThe Perfect Little Planetâ€ on the third day of Eid and â€œSpace Manâ€ on the fourth day. Arabic language screenings will be at 5.00 pm and English language screenings will be at 7.00pm. The day will end with a mesmerizing display of fireworks.
Mohamed Al Salem, director Souq Waqif commented: â€œEid Al Adha festivities will begin on the 2ndÂ day of Eid, and will offer fun for families and kids for five days. Souq Waqif is a favourite destination for both residents and visitors looking to enjoy Doha duringÂ theÂ Eid holidays.” Al Salim added that â€œthe Eid festivities, will be held in a large air-conditioned tent in Al Ahmed arena, and will feature a variety of games and childrenâ€™s shows, while Souq Waqif Art Center will hold arts and crafts workshops for children.â€
Mr. Khalid Saif Al Suwaidi, Director of Souq Al Wakra, announced â€œentertainment and acrobatics shows.Â New activations during Eid include the Horror House (Budria) that contains games requiring courage, determination and endurance, and are prohibited for those below 12 years and pregnant women. The festival will feature a large tent with a variety of games, with more by the waterfront. Electric cars will further facilitate visitor movement between the different activations and main facilities at the souq.â€
This Eid, women and families to enjoy sun, sand and snacks at Simaisma Beach and Katara Beach. Located between the Pearl and Westbay in Doha, Katara Beach has childrenâ€™s play areas, water rides and food stalls, along with a variety of shops and restaurants in the Cultural Village itself.Â For a break from the city, families can head to Simaisma, which stretches over 7km, has 76 seating areas with umbrellas, food trucks, horseback riding, and a set up for volleyball and football.Â Open from 9am-11pm, entry to the beach costs 50 QAR per car.
As summer winds down, plenty of entertainment options exist for the entire family. Â Entertainment City will reopen in time for Eid Al Adha, from 9th – 23rd August, with games, food, beverages and shopping. Â Individual entry tickets cost QAR 15 with day passes for QAR 150 and games priced between QAR 10 – 35 each.
All participating malls will have roaming shows and activities to keep the little ones entertained.Â Malls include Doha Festival City, Mall of Qatar, Lagoona Mall, Landmark Mall, Gulf Mall, Tawar Mall, Al Khor Mall, Hyatt Plaza, Al Mirqab Mall & The Mall.
Concerts & Shows
The summer entertainment will continue with live shows and concerts at Qatar National Convention Center.Â Blue Man Group inaugurates the monthâ€™s festivities from 14-17 August. Â Tickets are available through (https://tixbox.com/en/).
The Doha Comedy Festival returns for one more night, with British-Iranian Omid Djalili, Lebanese-American Nemr, and Qatarâ€™s own Hamad Al-Amari taking the stage on 15 August. The 8th South Indian International Movie Awards add some more glitz to Summer in Qatar.Â Taking place at Lusail Indoor Arena from 15-16 August, the awards will bring the glitterati of South Indiaâ€™s movie industry to Doha. Tickets are available through (https://www.aynatickets.com/)
For those who love a good story, Qatar National Theatre will be home to Kuwaiti play â€œKhutuat AlShaytanâ€ from the 1st day of Eid, until 17 August. Tickets are available at https://www.gofortickets.com/.
