Ooredoo yesterday announced that it saw “strong success†during a conference on best practices in protecting Qatar’s large enterprises and critical national infrastructure from rapidly evolving cyber-attacks.
Ooredoo, as Qatar’s leading provider of managed security solutions, highlighted the latest trends and figures in cyber-defence.
“As a managed security services provider, Ooredoo’s business customers are running the information security solutions offered through our secure Qatar Data Centre,†the company said in a statement.
Delegates focused on the evolving Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which flood the edge of network infrastructure.
DDoS attacks are taking down mission-critical websites and business-critical applications, email services, and voice services.
Ooredoo and Netscout Arbor highlighted best practices in preventing DDoS attacks with the Availability Protection System.
Ooredoo COO Yousuf Abdulla al-Kubaisi said, “Ooredoo is dedicated to protecting the information security of our customers and Qatar. At the cyber-defence conference, we exchanged best practices with our business customers in the cybersecurity strategies, solutions, and corporate culture to defend against cybercrime, reduce risk, and comply with the respective regulations.â€
Showing the damaging impact of cyber-attacks, cyber-crime will cost the world $6tn annually by 2021, according to a recent report by research firm Cybersecurity Ventures.
Faysal Heneidi, country manager – Enterprise Business, Netscout Arbor, said: “Qatar’s enterprises understand the urgency of deploying state-of-the-art cybersecurity solutions to enhance their competitiveness and customer trust. By combining Netscout Arbor’s DDoS mitigation solutions with Ooredoo’s vision and reach, executives learned about the current and future threat landscape and how best to minimise threats.â€
