QRCS launches QR14m Warm Winter campaign for the needy

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched its Warm Winter campaign, which seeks to distribute QR14m winter aid for more than 225,000 beneficiaries in nine countries.

Under the theme of ‘Journey of Giving’, this is the 13th edition of the annual campaign, which has over the past few years reached out to millions of affected populations across Asia and Africa.

The new drive was announced in a press conference attended by Ibrahim Abdullah Al Maliki, Executive Director, Dr. Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, Executive Director of Relief and International Development, and Abdullah Hamed Al Mulla, Director of Communication.

Al Maliki welcomed the guests and said, “The winter of 2019 is here, and we are geared up for giving! This is a tradition that seeks to help more and more poor, displaced, and homeless people to withstand the heavy-handed winter”.

“Let’s show the best in humanity and bring happiness into the hearts of kids, women, and elderly people desperate for warmth and food in the coldest months of the year. It is an inalienable right for those deprived of warmth and security or afflicted by lack of food and shelter. We are there for them, inspired heart and soul by our central value of “saving lives and preserving dignity,” he added.

Dr. Ibrahim said: “This year, some 225,000 needy people are bound to find succor and support, thanks to the support from donors to QRCS’s winterization programs planned in nine countries: Lebanon, Turkey, Yemen, Syria, Jordan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Bangladesh. Under these programs, the beneficiaries will get diverse shelter, heating, food, and nonfood aid”.

Then,  Al Mullah gave an overview of the means of donation to this charitable campaign through phone number of headquarters (44027777), Hotlines (66666364 – 66644822 – 16002) and donation locations points at malls & public venues.
