Department of Architecture and Urban Planning (DAUP) at Qatar University’s College of Engineering (QU-CENG) organised a ceremony to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA).
The event included research studies and projects related to the MIA and done by the students and faculty members.
QU-CENG dean Prof Abdulmagid Hamouda said the ceremony and the exhibition of the students’ projects reflected the influence of art on their designs, which in turn highlighted the mission of the MIA as a centre of knowledge.
Projects presented indicated how CENG’s students and faculty members demand creativity, innovation and quality in its outputs.
DAUP head Dr Fodil Fadli said: “This event is unique to us as a department since it involves faculty members and students showcasing the best projects related to the MIA.
Dr Fadli emphasised that the students’ projects and designs represent solutions that take into account sustainability, cultural and social aspects in a local context in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
CENG associate dean for research and graduate studies Prof Abbas Amira as well as students and faculty members of QU and CENG, attended the event.
