Temperature to drop during weekend; likely to be coldest of this season so far

Doha: Temperatures this weekend will be affected by fresh to strong north-westerly wind in most areas starting from Thursday until Saturday (January 17-19), predicted the Qatar Meteorology Department.

In addition, the north-westerly wind will be accompanied by a noticeable drop in temperature returning to their average for this time of year where maximums are expected to range between 16 to 20°C and minimums between 10 to 14°C reaching below 8°C in southern and external areas.

This cold spell is expected to be the coldest so far this season enhanced by the wind chill effect which will make it feel even colder.

The wind ranging in speed between 18 to 28 kt with gusts reaching 38 kt in some areas especially on Thursday and Friday will lead to blowing dust to dusty weather at times with poor visibility below 2 km in some areas.

Wave height expected to range between 7 to 10 ft reaching 15 ft at times.

Qatar Meteorology Department urged everyone to be cautious, avoid going to sea and to stay tuned for latest updates.
